Steve started this agency  in July 1996 with 10 years experience in the business. DaLinda joined in the fall of 1996, assisting customers with their home and auto needs. Lee joined the team shortly after the agency’s first birthday, offering his expertise in both personal and commercial accounts. Janet completed the team by joining the agency in the summer of 2005, offering her expertise in commercial accounts to current and new customers.

Steve Shoemaker

When I opened my own business in 1996 it was time for change in my life.  I was ready to operate my business where I could continue to have direct contact with the clients I had known for many years.  When technology didn’t play as large a role in insurance, we established relationships and I enjoy the connections I make with clients; learning about their families and their lives. We get to be friends; and friends protect friends.

Other than protecting friends, I really enjoy spending time with my wife, our dog, Bandit, and teaching the youth at my church.  My family is nearby as well, and that is one of the draws to the Tri Cities for me. I have lived here my whole life and don’t have any plan of leaving it now.

DaLinda Stephens

As an insurance agent, I really need to be able to relate to people and find out what their needs are.  Lucky for me, I love doing exactly that!  Working side by side with clients, and finding the right insurance keeps me coming back day after day

Being a lifetime resident of Kennewick it has been my family and my work that has kept me here over the years.  It has been a great place, since I love spending time with my family & gardening.  And when those two things aren’t taking up my time, I really enjoy traveling anywhere the sun shines, especially in Hawaii.

Lee Ford

Assisting clients understand what coverage they need and why they are buying it is one of my favorite things about being an insurance agent. Coming in a close second and third are making decisions from a position of knowledge that allows clients to make good, educated choices in their insurance program & working as an educator with my clients to help them become satisfied, long term customers, not short term price shoppers. On the flip side of that, the biggest challenge as an insurance agent is to help clients (current and prospective) understand that although the price is important, have the right coverage that is fairly priced is priceless.

When I’m not accepting the challenges of insurance, I love playing guitar in my band and swinging a golf club, generally at a ball.  If I can play guitar and golf in Sun River or the Oregon Coast while insuring people, I’d have all my favorite things!

Janet Nail

When I was asked what my favorite thing about being an insurance agent is, my mind immediately jumps to the variety of work.  Being an insurance agent since 1982, I’ve seen lots of changes in the industry. I also specifically really enjoy working at Steve Shoemaker Insurance because it is a small office and I know most of the customers when they walk through the door.  A friendly face is always welcome here at Steve Shoemaker Insurance.

I came to the Tri Cities in 1977 when my husband moved over for a job and we decided to stay when he opened up his own business. Another reason we decided to stay is so we can watch our grandchild grow up. When I’m not busy with family, I’m very active in the local Legal Womens Order, and I love to garden & travel.
